Sometimes it’s the little kids app pearls, that can trigger some downright enthusiasm in us.  Yipy Costume Party is one of the best dress up apps, that we have seen and tested so far and is now our new favorite one besides Toca Tailor, out of this app category.

We’re also excited about the fact that the app is also available for good value for all systems (iPad, iPhone, Android and Kindle Fire) and without in-app purchases, which is more of an exception coming from this kind of category.

How do we judge and distinguish a good dress up app?

1. A big range of pretty dolls, that can be dressed up and changed.

Right after the app has been started, kids get to choose from 6 various dolls, there are three male dolls and 3 female dolls to choose from, so that both genders are able to play with this app.

2. A massive range of clothes, suits and costumes

Yipy Costume Party offers six various clothes packages with each 60 pieces of clothing. You therefore get 360 pieces of clothing, which can be freely combined, thereunder trousers, skirts, blouses, shirts, shoes, belts and other great accessories. The clothes packages are sorted by subject and match the according scenery and background. You also have an easy access and it’s great fun to skip through the products.

3. Beautiful sceneries and theme-worlds, which offer plenty alternation

A total of 12 very different backgrounds with pretty neat graphics and little animations are available. The dolls can be dressed up according to their surroundings i.e.in royal castle, a Western town, in a Circus, a Ballet room, a pirate ship or a sports field. Each clothes package includes two backgrounds.

4. Animated dolls that respond

The dress up dolls are not just plain and fixed dolls, but instead slightly animated and respond to the costumes that they wear. Changing clothes was never this much fun before.

5. Saving function

Kids can save their fashionable constellation via photo function. Just a shame that they cannot be saved in a photo gallery, but instead on the camera roll of your device.

Yipy Costume Party has definitely exceeded our expectations in dress up apps. Besides the missing photo gallery to save some souvenir pictures of the dolls, we’re more than happy with this app. What else could you wish for, when you have 360 costumes, 6 dress up dolls and 12 backgrounds to choose from?
