Weigh the world | educational IOS game including a virtual scale & weights by Ravensburger
✔ iPad + iPhone | kids app for ages 9-11+ years
How much does the world weigh? This kind of question can be made known to kids with this awesome scale app by Ravensburger. The educational app “Weigh the world” is aimed at kids at primary school age, but is also fun for adults, which might be due to the modern iOS 7 Design.
Various Game modes
Weigh the world offers six different games, where kids get to experiment with various weight objects, which are presented as simple dark shadow pictograms. The highlight of the app has certainly got to be the virtual scale, which occurs in some of the games and allows kids to weigh and survey weights with.
1. Weights – balance the scales
Children get to place weights on the scale, in order to find the according weight of one object. Depending on the object, they get to handle with grams, pounds and ounces. If there’s a vehicle or building on the scale, they even get to weigh with tonnes.
2. Compare – which side is heavier?
In this game, kids need to compare and estimate the weight of several objects together.
3. Quiz – What does each object weigh?
A multiple choice quiz, where three possible answers are presented. Here’s an example: Does a double-Decker bus weigh 14 t, 1 oz or 12.125 t?
4. Sort – Sort the objects from the lightest to the heaviest
Up to 7 objects need to be sorted by weight from lightest to heaviest i.e. first of all a hat, then a shoe, a duck, a bike, a swordfish, a stag and eventually a T-Rex.
5. Mix – weigh the world
During this game mode, kids can have fun with the virtual scale, all objects and different kind of weights. The objects were sorted by subject such as: Nature, Vehicles, Buildings and Space, so that kids don’t get lost in the big range of objects and animals. Whether a chicken or a duck weighs more, can be playfully tried out and read in this game.
6. Quick Game
In our YouTube video, we show you the alternative mode “Quick game”, where all of the games that we’ve talked about above, can be played in turns.

Weigh the world offers some interesting insights and certainly invites kids to some experimental fun. How much more does a satellite weigh compared to a pterosaurs? How many elephants does it take to lift up the scale pan with the double-Decker bus on? Kids learn the mathematical coherence’s and also train their math skills, by adding the different weight units whilst playing.
