Tic Toc Time: learn how to tell the time | Multilingual educational clock and compass app for kids
✔ iPad + iPhone ✔ Android ✔ Kindle Fire | telling time kids app
Today, we’d like to introduce you to an excellent new and unique telling time app, that will help children to understand and learn the time, in a way that has never yet been done before. With it’s awesome comprehensive, well-explained exercises, Tic Toc Time by Seven Academy, clearly stands out from other apps of this category. We tested this extensive educational kids app and must say, it did take us a while, as it is truly amazing in size and information, but it will definitely keep your kids busy in a fun way!
Elementary and comprehensive
A funny and cute little beaver family helps kids to gain a vast knowledge of the subject time, how to read the clock and also how to use a compass, by using lots of various learning games and thorough explanations. In the first chapter, a compass needs to be assembled and operated. So when it comes to determine the position of the sunrise, the iPad/iPhone is basically used as a compass due to it’s tilt function. Amazing!
Each game didactically builds upon the previous game. In the second chapter, it’s all about the course of the sun and the corresponding shade, so that kids are also introduced to the sundial. Depending on the time of day, kids need to determine the correct position of the shade.
In order to answer a few questions about the course of the sun and the time of day, the beaver even takes kids to outer space.
Awesome, funny, multilingual
Before kids are able to start playing one of the educational games, everything is explained and shown thoroughly by the beaver first. The speaker of this app has a very funny beaver-voice, which might be a matter of taste. We and the kids however like it, but there might be parents, who prefer a neutral audio response. At this point, we also have to praise the professional, multilingual audio responses that are being offered and which have been translated really well.
Understand, tell and set the time
It takes a while until kids have finally reached the modern clock and it’s clock-face as we use nowadays. Various games for learning to understand, tell and set the time, are offered with the help of a cuckoo clock. The exercises have also been logically and didactically built upon each other. The clock-face needs to be crafted first. Kids are then introduced to the hour hand and the minute hand. There’s also a little high-score game, where kids need to stop the clock at the right time with a buzzer.

Although our video is only 10 minutes long, we’re still able to show you a short extract of this comprehensive app for kids. We’re kind of leaving out the first three chapters (compass, sundial and space) and begin with the actual clock and time game.
Tic Toc Time – break down the day to learn how to tell the time | kids app rating
Seven Academy has truly produced a remarkable and outstanding educational kids app here. Whilst other kids app developers publish their nonsense apps, purely for marketing reasons in the App Store Category Education, Tic Toc Time shines with it’s excellent and unique authentic educational app. Kids will be real time and clock experts soon, if they keep on practising with this brilliant app and even parents and teachers will be left amazed by their fast progress and vast knowledge.
Tip: You can analyse your childs progress, if you register the secured parents area via e-mail or facebook account and gain access to the Montessori garden, which is a rewarding game. Personally, we don’t use the statistics and never really register anywhere. We’re therefore unfortunately unable to access the reward game in the garden.
Pro’s
(+) very comprehensive and diversified
(+) multilingual (English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish)
(+) secured parents area
(+) fun and educational
Neutral
Deliberate beaver voice, which is a little mumbled and a matter of taste. Kids find it very amusing, even if parents might prefer a rather neutral speech output. Some of the games are already suitable for preschoolers, whilst in other games, kids need to be able to count up to 23 (hours) or 59 (minutes) in order to be able to set the sun/time to the right position.
Con’s
(-) Montessori garden for reward game locked and only accessible via registration
Conclusion: Truly one of the best apps for kids for learning to tell the time!
