Monsters behave! funny and amusing educational iPad app for kids
✔ iPad | kids app for ages 6 years
Monsters behave! is a very funny kids app with badly behaved monsters, funny rhymes, entertaining games and educational value. This successful combination was already a download recommendation in the past year and was offered as a Freemium app. Now however, all of the in-app purchases have been removed and the app has now clearly been upgraded and extended. Find out as to what changes have been made and what to expect in the app in our review below.
A monster mother and her children
A monster mother surely doesn’t have it easy in Monsters behave! Her monster children sit at the kitchen table and are simply misbehaving monster-style. One is munching on food, another one is messing about with it’s food, whilst one even burps. Kids get introduced to each monster with a funny rhyme such as the following verse:
“The Shout Monster lets out a terrible roar,
He flushes and fumes like a dragon at…”
The churlish behavior is presented with very amusing animations and kids can even touch the monster several times in order to trigger various reactions from them. However, the little monsters are also able to behave themselves, because after they have impressively demonstrated their bad behavior, they represent themselves supremely well with another verse and one more interactive scene.
But see now he sits so upright and able,
To quietly eat from his plate on the table.”
The verses however, are influenced and presented with the help of the children, as they need to find the correct rhyme to every verse. After this little rhyme game, two more tasks are waiting for kids with every monster.
New: word puzzle game & mini game
Built upon the rhyme game, kids need to solve a word puzzle game next, where kids need to fill in the blanks, which is one of the new upgrades. The wanted words are spread all over the screen and can simply be dragged to the blanks.
The most popular innovation for kids has to be the new mini games, where kids can muck about as much as possible with the monsters. The more they scream, smack and pick their nose, the higher the highscore. What this actually looks like in action? Check out our YouTube video below. With two different monsters we show you the three kind of game modes.
Monsters behave! Kids app rating
The app is advertised a being a clever app filled with language, fun and games – and we couldn’t agree more! We really like the funny monsters and the app even more interesting now that the app offers more games due to the upgrades.
By eliminating the pure storybook mode without prompting, the entry of age increases, however, kids should be able to read for the new word puzzle game already. The app offers a lot more content for older kids now, whereby we’re missing three of our favorite monsters at the moment, the smack monster, the fidgety monster and the linger monster – further updates have already been announced and we reckon that those will be back soon.
As Kindergarten kids also have an high interest in the funny monsters and their mischievous behaviour, we’d also like a pure reading and game mode, as it used to be offered before. In order to get to the highscore mini games, the language games need to be played at least once before those can be played.
