Monster Moogle – imaginative and unique storybook app for kids
✔ iPad – storybook app for kids
Some storybook apps simply stand out from other storybook apps and one of those outstanding storybook apps has to be, without a doubt, “Monster Moogle” by Daniella Orkin. Monster Moogle is available for a family-friendly purchase price of $ 1.99 for the iPad and the actual message of the story for children is as follows: Don’t be afraid of monsters, because they only arise from your imagination. The design of the storybook app is just as imaginative, as we will show you below.
Monster Moogle is divided into four different sections, which provide plenty of alternation and will keep your kids busy for a long time.
1. Story Mode
Monsters are of course an issue for children and those of you who think back to your own childhood, may remember the occasional frightening walk in the basement or attic. This is exactly what the subject of this story of Monster Moogle is about, where a bulldog puppy dog named Butch wants to still the childrens fear of monsters. No matter how frightening a monster seems, it only arises from one’s own imagination and is often created of everyday things, that children have seen in their everyday life. Without wanting to tell you too much of the actual story mode, you can check out the bulldog’s message in the following screenshot below.
2. Interactive Story
More interesting than the story mode, has to be the interactive story, where every second page is a beautiful interactive illustration. Very imaginatively designed monster illustrations are shown, which match the narrative text of the bulldog Butch, i.e. the triple-headed monster. The highlight: kids can convert the triple-headed monster a couple of times, via finger swipe. We really like those kind of interactive gimmickry and kids simply love it too.
3. Monster Maker
As you can see, the illustrations are very imaginative collages, as the monsters in this story are actually made out of various objects. The basic shapes are usually animal photos, where decorations such as household items, accessories and jewelery can be placed upon. Children can use these utensils and items in the Monster maker mode themselves in order to create their own monsters, of whom nobody needs to be afraid of. Here’s an example by us, by the way, the backgrounds can also be changed and varied.
If kids need some inspiration, they can find some very scary monsters in the characters section, which all have their own background story and also a name. Browsing through the characters is also great fun for us adults and the funny texts really motivate kids to read.
Monster Moogle YouTube-Video
In our YouTube video trailer, we show you a short sequence of the interactive story and demonstrate the monster maker to you, where our black panther (jaguar?) has originated from.
Monster Moogle | Kids app rating
Monster Moogle has to be the most imaginative kids app of the year so far and this is exactly what the story in the app is about, monsters arise from our imagination and once children have understood this, they no longer need to be afraid of monsters, no matter how many heads or sharp teeth the monsters have. The combination of an educational valuable story and a creative monster maker is extraordinary and will definitely appeal to you too!
Our only point of criticism are the optional in-app purchases, with which you can unlock new collage items for the monster maker. We didn’t expect these to be part of an in-app purchase and should also be mentioned in the iTunes description.
