Find them all: Dinosaurs world | new additional content – Prehistoric animals
✔ iPad + iPhone | educational kids app
New prehistoric animals have recently been frolicking about on our iPad & iPhone, which are a new addition to the Dinosaur app of “Find them all: Dinosaurs World”, which we have already introduced and recommended to you. If you already own this educational app, you can get yourself the additional game “prehistoric animals” via in-app purchase. For us, it was definitely worth the purchase, as the child-oriented facts of the extinct animals are hardly, if ever found in childrens non-fictional books.
A preface to the in-app purchase
To be able to play the extension, you need to own the main Dinosaurs game. The game and it’s extension costs $ 1.99 each, which therefore amounts to a total of $ 3.98.
What about the dinosaurs?
As we have already presented you the main dinosaur game in detail, we now want to present you to the “Prehistoric Animals” extension. The main game however, is also particularly suitable for little dinosaur fans!
Prehistoric animals – highly interesting!
It’s quite amazing how little one knows about the prehistoric animals. The lack of knowledge starts with the species and generic term of the animals. Whilst even little children can already name 10 or more dinosaur names from out of nowhere, it’s a different kind of story with the prehistoric animals.
Ever heard of a Uintatherium? Or a Macrauchenia? How about an imposing Megatherium? Here’s a picture of a Megatherium skeleton (image Wikipedia)
The best thing about the update: kids do not only learn the names, but also get to see the animals in action in their natural habitat, something not even a museum can afford. Here’s a picture of a Megaloceros and a Paraceratherium in the search game.
An overview of the activities
Find them all is a very comprehensive educational seek and find game, which is separated into different phases, which we’d like to tell you quickly.
1. Seek and find: kids hear an animals name via audio response and need to look for it in the game.
2. Collectible cards: kids can collect “portrait cards” of all the animals that they have found.
3. The camera: kids can take pictures of the animals with a camera, which are then collected in a photo album. Additional information is also unlocked for each collectible card.
4. Nighttime: find all the dinosaurs before nightfall, or use a torch to find them in the dark.
5. Puzzle mode: make jigsaws out of the photos that you’ve taken (4, 6, 12, 24, 42 pieces).
6. Photo quiz: knowledge is checked and strengthened in a playful way, where new snaps for the album can be won.
7. Extras: Once all of the albums are complete, you can print the cards and photos and use them as templates.

New: The cameraman
The apps are constantly being updated, maintained and expanded. For quite some time now, a brave cameraman visits the prehistoric animals and dinosaurs. Whenever the kids see the camera man in the landscape, they can see an interesting video clip as a reward from the perspective of the cameraman. An awesome addition!
Prehistoric animals extension – bottom line
It’s really amazing what imposing mammals once lived and populated our planet and how little we really know about them. The new extension of the Dinosaur app lets the extinct animals come back to life and become a real experience for children.
A few technical things could be improved, especially the audio response, as the cave dwellers are referred to as animals and not human beings. In the night mode, the animals tend to be a little too close to the screen, so that it’s impossible to inspect them with the light.
Our conclusion: technically not yet perfect – but contentwise, especially interesting and valuable.
