BoomKLAKers – Feel the Beat with animated Monsters | unique Music app for kids
✔ iPad + iPhone ✔ Android | kids app for ages 3+ years
One of the most interesting and remarkable new kids app releases of this week has to be BoomKLAKers, who proclaim to be the first app, that shows children how to see and feel dance. The app was developed by a team of parents, dancers, musicians, acrobats and a choreographer/dancer called Rosa Mei – and more of these unique and funky apps have been announced.
Of course this project made us very curious and we checked and mainly listened to this debut app straight after it was published, because with BoomKLAKers, you’ll surely get a lot to listen to.
The developers Funky Bots about their app
Before we go ahead and introduce you to this kids app, we would like to let the app developers speak first, who describe the concept of BoomKLAKers as follows:
BoomKLAKers shows kids how to FEEL the BEAT by associating musical beats with movement. This is one of the basic principles for understanding music and dance. Babies are born with this skill innately. If they learn to feel the beat, they can dance forever. It is a skill that stays with them their entire lives.
And this is how BoomKLAKers is played
The concept of the app is just as unusual and extraordinary as BoomKLAKers presents itself visually: Little funny monsters can be found on various industrial sceneries, who are waiting to be discovered and touched by children. A Beat is triggered via a simple touch on the monster and therefore also a dance move, which the monster moves to. Kids can therefore determine the speed of the dance sequence themself.
There’s a total of 13 interactive scenes in this app and each scene is separated into two phases. During the first phase, the monster only react to the input of the kids and kindly waits for the next command. During the second phase, they demonstrate their fully automatic Streetdance.
Streetdance, Beatbox, Popping and Locking
Admittedly: we don’t know much about Streetdance and had to do some research about it, especially the dance types Popping and Locking, which can both be found in this app. That way, BoomKLAKers have also expanded our adult horizon a little. In this context, we’d really like to have more background informations about these subjects, which also highlights the influences closer. An extra information area can already be found in the app and could easily be expanded.

BoomKLAKers | kids app rating
BoomKLAKers is a unique and extraordinary app for kids, both contentwise and also with it’s awesome design. In this app there certainly are no young children on a meadow singing some children’s songs, but instead funny monsters who perform Streetdance on industrial sceneries. Speaking of sceneries: The scenery also reacts to the beat by changing it’s picture. What we really like is that the sequences are very dynamic due to the coupled animations.
We’re really looking forward to further apps by Funky Bots.
(+) Unique concept
