Wombi Detective | kids investigation and crime solving mystery game app
On a late and rainy night, detective Walter MacSneak’s phone suddenly rings… “Good evening, am I speaking to Master Detective Walter MacSneak?” A robbery has taken place!
With this fabulous kids app, kids get to solve some really controversial and tricky robbery cases, which are listed as high priority cases. It all begins in a very swashbuckling, slightly seedy detective’s agency, which will most likely attract boys the most.
It’s as if it would all take place in an old crime movie, even the music sounds like it and reminds and takes us into the 1950’s crime atmosphere.
When the old fashioned bulky phone on the desk starts to ring, one thing is sure: a new unsolved case and a new investigation, which is about to start, needs the kids full attention. These criminal cases and mysterious investigations surely challenge and encourage the kid’s logics. Kids will receive 3 hints during the gibberish in the phone call: the colour of the eyes, the body size and the headgear, as all burglar’s and thiefs of the 50’s wear hats. The whole witness interrogation is carried out with symbols, there are no reading or language skills needed, as all Wombi apps usually keep in mind that the apps are for Kindergarten aged kids or preschool aged kids.
As soon as the main characteristics have been collected, the second phase of the game begins: the lineup. Kids can now decide who the real suspect is.
The actual culprit has not been caught yet, there are still no signs of the loot. During the examination however, three more hints were found, to where the stolen goods are, which are now being assigned to the right place.
Items such as screws, a scraper and a drill indicate that the offender has hidden his loot on a construction site. However, when it comes to oil preserves and old tires, children should rather look at a workshop. All together, we have four different hiding places for kids to explore and investigate, which makes the app rich in variety. After the items have been assigned to the correct hiding place, the kids app changes to it’s last phase, which is similar to a search warrant, at least when it’s about the workshop or the flat.
In the workshop the loot needs to be found with the help of a torch. On the construction site, the mud and debris needs to be moved aside to find the loot. Kids can even use a metal detector at the beach. In the forest however, they’ll just use a simple scraper.
The culprit get’s arrested as soon as the precious loot is found and the case is therefore closed.
Wombi Detective is simply unique! We don’t know of any other kids app for the iPad and iPhone of this kind. The actual transformation of this app is very well made. As soon as kids got used to the rather strange but different kind of gameplay, they really enjoy the different cases of investigating etc. They discover and explore with passion and there are a lot of places, items and suspects to consider. A huge praise goes to the 50’s style and crime-atmosphere, which is not only a visual delight but also an acoustic sensation, which knows how to entertain and impress.
