Wheels on the bus | the song as an interactive toddler’s app
A big surprise awaits you in this fantastic toddler’s app “wheels on the bus”: even though this app is mainly in English, it is also possible to hear the songs in German, French, Spanish and Italian, which comes in handy if you’re raising your child multilingual.
We’d say that this kids app is an interactive music-book, because the most popular children’s song “wheels on the bus”, is being presented bit by bit on each page, by using very lovely and funny animations, whilst the song is being sung.
Every verse of the song has been given an interactive illustration, where kids cannot only sing along to, but also have the opportunity to carry out what is being sung in the text, i.e. opening and shutting the doors on the bus.
Of course, toddler’s could just look at the pictures, listen to the song and use this app as a storybook only, but who is going to open the door for the pidgeon?
The given activities may only be small, but they are very tempting! A fully watered windscreen, is practically inviting kids, to use the wipers to clean it.
The multilingualism of this app, is really praiseworthy and very entertaining. Most kids will sing along quite easily, as they are already familiar with the song, so even if it is in another language, they’ll learn really fast. There are also different instruments available, which will encourage children’s sense of hearing and instrumental recognition.
Unfortunately, the app developers missed out on translating the actual verses of the song into the correct language, therefore the english text stays visible, even if the song is sung in another language.
This is not really heavily important, but kind of unintelligible.
In case you trust your singing, it is also possible to record your singing of the song, with this app. This might be nice for toddlers, as they can hear mummy sing the song for a change – a nice little feature.
