Unmechanical | great logic game for kids aged 10+ yrs.
Today we want to introduce you to a kids app which is mainly suitable for kids ages 10 years+, as we’ve noticed that we are a little short on apps for older kids. We want to introduce you to a very atmospheric and mysterious logic game with a little robot helicopter.
Please forget everything that you may possibly know about robot helicopter or logical games, because Unmechanical is by far incomparable to anything really and is therefore, a captivating app recommendation for your kids ages 10+ or even yourselves.
This app has no text displays or verbal hints. It’s almost as if you wake up from a dream and all of a sudden you’ll find yourself in a very tempting environment of a futuristic Industrial complex, with the little robot helicopter. You start off with a very simple one-touch navigation which will help you discover the environment, which is full of mysterious and strange machines. Whenever you’re stuck in a dead end, you’re basically confronted with a puzzle that needs solving, which will open the gate for you to pass through.
With Unmechanical, it is already challenging to find the puzzle or challenge itself, in comparison to other logic games. So you start off with the little robot and begin to discover and manipulate the environment. A tractor beam will help you to see and find things better, and is also simple to turn on or off, you can also transport objects, stones and pearls with it.
The first few riddles can be solved by kids aged 10 years, thanks to the easy navigation, however the riddles will start to get more complex, which is why we honestly recommend Unmechanical for kids from the ages 10 years upwards.
At the beginning it may be enough to block a cogwheel with a stone. Later however, you’ll need to be able to handle mirrorstones, which need to redirect the laser beam several times in a row correctly, so that the gate can be opened.
It may sound a little complicating, but with the slowly rising difficulty level, it’s never an insurmountable hurdle and finding the solution is also always a pleasant experience.
We have put together some of the Unmechanical riddles for you and took some screenshots which you can have a look at below.
Short circuit in the Waterhole
The closed gate at the top right is stopping us from passing. After several attempts in trying to operate the switch, we discovered the torn electrical cable in the middle of the screen inside a sinkhole, where there’s water underneath. Even without the hints, the solution is pretty obvious. If we manage to rise the water level, the water will bypass the broken electricity and the gate can be opened again by using the switch.
The necessary materials, which you’ll need to find to raise the water level are not next to the hole, you’ll actually need to get them from an old office, which isn’t closeby and carry them to the hole.
This is quite often the case in Unmechanical. Sometimes the puzzles are partially intertwined, so that the player should look at the problem from a certain distance.
The Laserbeam riddle
With this riddle it is important to use some good skills, as objects are not just simply thrown in the water, you’ll need to aim the beam exactely so it’s got the shape of a tower.
Later on, you’ll need to turn the Laserbeam many more times, where you really need to use some logical sense. The brilliant thing about Unmechanical is, that you can take yourself as much time as you need, as there is absolutely no rush and no threat, which may be waiting for you, even if this app does have a rather dark atmosphere.
One thing which should not be left unmentioned is the level section with the oversized, pulsating heart, which is integrated in an enigma. Perhaps this may not be your case.
Because we’re really keen on this app, we’ll show you our favourite riddle, which was very interesting:
Moving weight blocks on scales
The locking bolts at the top, will only move and open when all four scales have a similar amount of weight on them, so that you can pass through the opening.
Maybe you’re wondering why we’re introducing you Unmechanical of all other possible games, which are suitable for kids aged 10+, which can be found on the App Store. Well, especially because of the atmosphere in Unmechanical, which seems rather dark and mysterious at first, but actually isn’t at all – it is a superb logic game with plenty of features, which we really appreciate in kids apps: no game over, promotes intelligence, it’s calm and soothing but still captivating and exciting. It’s such a nice, strong and captivating logic game, if only the setting and environment would be a little more inviting, but i guess that’s exactely the reason why you want out of there with your helicopter robot by solving all of the riddles. By the way, you can also save more than one score and therefore really use the time to discover and explore this app, without overwriting the score of others.
