The Lion King – Timon’s Tale | the interactive story book app for kids and Disney fans!
Disney’s Masterpiece “The Lion King” is now also available as a story book app for kids, which is amazing and will refresh many of our childhood memories that we had, when the Disney Film was first released and when most parents were watching it as kids, in the cinemas. I’m pretty sure that you (the parent) have introduced Disney’s the Lion King to your children already, however for those who aren’t yet familiar with the film or the story, but even if you are, the storybook app is a simple “must have” for kids and for your kids apps collection. I don’t think kids will ever get bored with the story or the movie, but this app however, offers by far more than you’d get by just watching the movie or by just reading the book. This app is a unique publication and Disney has done an excellent job with this story book app, we’ll explain why below.
Both the presentation and the interactivities are innovative and leaves known paths. Nothing is static, as all scenes are interactive and are shown as animated cartoon-scenes, which are narrated by the one and only, true star of the Lion King Trilogy: Timon, with his origional voice as you know him of the movie. He obviously has a way to tell the story anything but boringly and is therefore a true delight to listen to, as he also adds his certain sense of humour to it.
If you like the original soundtrack of the Lion King, then you’ll truely enjoy this app, as it also has all of the songs that you might be familiar with, included in this story app for kids.
This app has also got a lot of different languages to choose from. This could be useful for multilingual kids or if the children are learning a foreign language. All languages have been professionally recorded by Disney and are therefore top quality only.
The story is also presented in text, so each word is also highlighted which makes it easier for kids to read along. This comes in really handy for kids who are reading or listening to a foreign language, so that they keep track of each word and therefore learn the language much better and easier.
This story book app has the following languages included: English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Norwegian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
The only down side to it is that it uses up a lot of storage as this app is big in quantity and variety, actually 550MB big. This is probably due to all of the cartoon scenes and musical varieties in this app.
We do however miss the cherry on top, as there are no extras like Memo-games, puzzles or search games. However, there are some really small and short games which have been integrated to the kids app, which we find really interesting: During two stages in this app, kids will need to roar like a real Lion, to scare off the hyenas. The actual roaring is recorded and then transferred to the story, which is great fun for kids.
On many other occasions, kids get asked to draw different symbols with their fingers on to the iPad and iPhone screens, whilst the story continues.
With the Lion King – Timon’s Tale, Disney finally leaves the cheap production of story book apps for kids, which usually only consisted of screenshots of the actual film.
In this app however, the story shines with it being a story book app and also an interactive anmation film. We’re not saying that all story book apps are supposed to look like this, but Disney’s future story book apps which are based on their movies, could really be produced in this kind of quality.
