Strawberry Shortcake
cute girl’s app!
Well, we certainly had no idea that Strawberry Shortcake was already celebrating her 30th Anniversary. It was only when we found the new Starwberry Shortcake app on the App Store, that we noticed it in the iTunes description. Due to this, we’re no longer surprised about one or the other adult fan in our readership. This app may therefore also be suitable for big Strawberry Shortcake fans.
This app is not the first Strawberry Shortcake app which we have tested, however the first, which we can honestly recommend further, also as this app only costs 0.99 $.
For the big fans among you we have also linked a few other Strawberry Shortcake apps below, so you can make your own opinions about them.
Strawberry Shortcake is a fruity casual game with some sweet graphics, where the players can create some awesome Smoothies with Strawberry Shortcake and her friends. 5 different fruits are falling down from above, which need to be sorted into the right Smoothie machine by the kids. Every now and again, some special berries fall down, which kind of flood the screen with fruits for extra point. As long as the Bonus time is active, kids can put all sorts of fruits into the Smoothie machine, even green limes, which you would normally through out of the screen.
When three fruits of the same kind have been sorted into the machine, you also get a points-combo and one of Strawberry Shortcake’s friends comes around for a short visit.
Unfortunately you can only do a triple combo, which we don’t really understand. Even if the fruits inside the catch bowl would allow a much bigger order of the same fruits, the app only ever counts three of them. Because of this, a lot of game fun is lost, at least for the ambitious high-score player.
The high-score doesn’t seem to play a very big part in this app, which is surprising for a casual game. Once you’ve started and clicked yourself through the tutorial, you kind of one round after the other without further surprises really. A lot of potential has been wasted here. Only the serving of the Smoothie seems to loosen up the same and almost boring sorting game.
The star rating takes place over the straws in the Smoothies. Whilst the glasses are slowly being filled up, you’ll also notice, if a wrong fruit has been accidentally sorted in one of the glasses. Careful: The wholes star rating scene can be skipped by touching anywhere on the display only once, which might be frustrating for kids, as it was for ours in our testing team. Especially as they didn’t want to miss out on this occasion.
As the kids app doesn’t really offer any more surprises, kids have also started to mix lots of different fruits together, just to misuse the casual game as a smoothie maker app.
