Halloween is almost there and it’s really not that long now until kids will go trick-or-treating. Well, we have also found a little treat for our kids app Halloween category, which we will fill with some more selected treat apps for you this year. The first app treat we’re going to introduce to you is “Stella and Sam Halloween Band”, because this app is brand new and has been developed by Zinc Roe for iPad and iPhone.

Stella and Sam are already well-known with lots of other kids apps, which are based on the television show and bestselling picture book series by Marie-Louise Gay. Some of those apps are:

* Rainy Days: Stella and Sam Adventure
* Backyard at Twilight a Stella and Sam Adventure

Even thought the Stella and Sam books were translated into 15 different languages, the apps however  aren’t multilingual yet and Stella and Sam Halloween Band is only available in English and French.

Spooky jingle-jangle music

Instead of a big concert, Stella and Sam prepare a small, musical tryst in the moonlight with their friends. All kids appear in Halloween costumes of course, even Stella’s dog is wearing a superhero cape with a bell around his neck.

Its always three different characters with whom kids can play music with, whereby we must say, there is only a very delicate creepy Halloween tune which unfortunately plays in an endless loop. Every child brings another instrument along with them and the charm of this small music app is to hear each individual instrument in the piece and either switch that instrument on or off.

You can also vary the speed of the melody by altering the horizontal position of the Halloween Band. If Stella and the others stand in the middle of the screen, the music plays in a normal speed, the speed increases on the right and slows down on the left hand side.

At the time of this review, this Halloween app of Stella and Sam only costs $ 0.99. Nevertheless, we did expect a little bit more of this game. The little animations are nice, the sound is also ok and Stella and Sam are pretty charming, but that’s it we’re afraid. Don’t expect a lasting play fun, as the Band can also not be selected by yourself, as you can for example with the Toca Band app, which we can recommend you even more.
