Skip Bo | the popular card game now available as an family app
kids app for the ages 7 yrs+ | family app
We can finally introduce you to another boardgame app for kids, the new Skip Bo app has just been released for the iPad and iPhone, there was only an iPhone version of Skip Bo available before.
After we have played a couple of Skip Bo rounds on the iPad, we can recommend you this Skip Bo app, despite a couple of weaknesses.
Let’s start off with a weakness
Loveless Skip Bo instructions
If you’re not yet familiar with the family game, you will only find a pretty loveless instructions in this app. Even though the rules are quite simple, we’d still expect more. Other Boardgame apps offer way more i.e. a tutorial.
No multiplayer option
Especially card games are quite hard to be played on the iPad together (or even on the iPhone) you can also see this with the Uno app. However, the Skip Bo app would have been ideal for a blutooth or online multiplayer mode. This leaves us only with a Single player mode against the Computer.
Enough of the moaning – let’s carry on with the perhaps most important download reason:
The single player mode is just plain fun – and definitely meets the exact taste of children with it’s cartoon characters.
There are three different difficulty levels, which vary through the different Computer opponents.
In the first mode “Easy” you play against animals…
In the “medium” mode you play against humans… and in the “hard” mode you play against smart robots.
The actual Skip Bo cards game has an age recommendation of 7 years + which is the age that we recommend for this card-game app to. Of course there are no set age limits upwards – Skip Bo is definitely a game for the whole family.
Skip Bo | kids app rating
We really hope for some updates for this app. Especially adult players prefer to play this game against real human opponents. Until then, we’ll leave the rating at 3 stars. If your kids like to play Skip Bo, they will have a lot of fun with this app. Mum and dad will most likely like to play one or the other round too – perhaps against the robots in the “hard” mode.
