Sago Mini Sound Box
Free musical app for toddlers
Today we’d like to introduce you to a sound toy in form of a new toddlers app, which has only just been published for the iPad and iPhone.
Almost as interesting as the app is the Background of the app, which we’ll talk about individually in another review.
The world’s most famous kids app developers Toca Boca and Zinc Roe merge (in preparation).
Let’s take a look at the Sago Mini Sound Box for now.
Kids can expect a soundboard with nine different acoustic world’s in the Sago Mini Sound Box app, thereunder for example:
* animal sounds
* flutes sounds
* motor sounds
The sounds appear, whenever the children magically perform a colored dot with their finger on the display. Not only the color of the dots vary with every time they’re being touched, but also the sounds, which leads to an interesting sequence of sounds.
Those simple looking dots are however interactive and hold a little surprise for kids. The dots can be moved around on the display and also pushed against each other, which will also make some new and interesting sounds. They can also be cracked, whilst keeping them pressed for a little while longer, which will lead the dot to crack open and a tiny animal will hatch out of it with a cute animation, which makes the animal disappear from the screen again.
We’re a little bit dissapointed with the surprises, in the different acoustic worlds, e.g. not only in the animal sound world, the animals hatch, but they also hatch in the “motor sounds world”, which is a little confusing and doesn’t make any sense. A lot of game-fun potential is lost here.
It would have been a lot more interesting for cars to appear with the motor sounds, which would have then driven off the screen.
The app is therefore a little shallow and only saves itself with a 4 star rating as it is a FREE kids app and also child user-friendly, as the outgoing links are protected with a small but effective safety lock.
