Room on the Broom Games | various mini games for kids
✔ iPad + iPhone ✔ Android ✔ Kindle Fire | app for kids of ages 3-6 years
“Room on the Broom Games” is the app which we want to introduce to you today and is also based on the same-named childrens storybook by Julia Donaldson. The app is being featured as a Halloween app by Apple at the moment, but also fits into the dark season beyond the typical traditions beautifully.
The witch, dog and cat and the broom invite kids to various mini games. Unfortunately, this is not a storybook app and kids who don’t yet know the story “Room on the Broom” will not really experience or get to know much of the story itself by playing the short mini games.
A games collection with 8 calm mini games
1st Game: Join the stars
Kids fly the witch from one star to another, whilst creating and drawing beautiful pictures in the sky.
2nd Game: Find the hat
Kids will find many search games in this app, which always show a landscape picture where the witch has lost and dropped an item or object. Kids can find those objects behind every tree, bush or stone etc. The less things they turn around, lift up or move aside, the better the rating at the end of each game, where kids will receive a medal.
3rd Game: The stormy wind blew
Not only leaves fly by, but also things like the witches hat. The cat will let kids know what they need to look out for every now and again. Kids need fast reactions as they need to catch the objects quite fast as they fly by in the wind.
4th Game: Find the bow
Another search game, this time besides a cornfield with a bird.
5th Game: Find the wand
Another search game – this time with a frog at a pond.
6th Game: Drawing with stars
A rather strange drawing game, which didn’t really arouse the children’s attention much. Stars can be placed in the sky, which need to be followed by the witch on the broom, whereby the route draws a constellation in the firmament.
7th Game: feeding the dragon his favorite food – chips
The red dragon loves witch and chips for his tea. Kids need to make sure he only catches the chips and not the other food and objects that are flying by.
8th Game: whoosh! they were gone
kids can join the witch on the broom and sit just behind the cat, where they will fly through the starry night whilst having to collect letters. In this game we’re also clearly missing the audio response.
Room on the Broom Games kids app rating
For this app to be implicitly recommendable, it would first of all need audio response, because there are still lots of text informations. The games only satisfy us half of what they could do as they’re not really our taste, especially as they are all very similar. You hardly get any information about the actual story itself, which should make this app for kids even less interesting for those, who don’t know the story yet.
Especially as the app is priced with $ 4.99 which is quite high, we urgently recommend you to watch our YouTube trailer first before purchasing this app. Perhaps you’re going to prefer the iTunes audio book as an great alternative to the app.
Room on the Broom Games – video trailer
Conclusion: A storybook app with audio response and games as an extra would have satisfied us much more. This way, we may only have some gorgeous illustrations in the games, which our daughter loves, as she has only just seen “Room on the Broom” at the theater with her school class.
