My PlayHome Stores | exploring, playing store & shopping adventure fun for kids
Kids app for ages 3-5 yrs. | Available for ✔ iPad + iPhone ✔ Android ✔ Kindle Fire
Do you know or perhaps even own the “My PlayHome” kids app, which is being featured by Apple on the App Store at the moment? Well, the actual sequel has only just recently been published, which would have deserved to have been put into the spotlight of “new and noteworthy” way more actually. After all, this shopping game has a remarkable feature:
With “My PlayHome Stores” you can let the little dolls go on a shopping spree, whilst combining, connecting and playing both apps together! But even taken on it’s own, the new shopping app is a prime example of a successful children’s app.
The previous PlayHome app “My PlayHome”
We haven’t yet reviewed the first Playhome app, however we will do shortly and we can already ensure an Editor’s Choice award. We can honestly recommend this app and the app has also been updated several times within the last couple of weeks, for example, international families and even new rooms. The app developers also maintain their already published apps consistently – which we appreciate very much.
The follow-up: “My PlayHome Stores”
Just as in the first app, there is a lot for kids to discover and explore in the shopping mall. The dolls don’t get to explore different rooms, this time, they can play and enter various shops. Nearly everything which you’ll come across is interactive in some way or another, up until the gumball machine in front of the strip mall. There are no set goals, my PlayHome Stores is a digital toy, where kids can freely play however they like.
The design of the app has not changed. In the upper part, the children can choose between different dolls and simply pull them into the scene. The dolls even interact with the environment, they can be placed onto the chairs, be dressed up and also fed. In addition, you can place all sorts of items into their hands.
The following shops can be discovered:
* An ice cream parlor – with a fully working ice cream maker
* A clothing store – the clothes can be tried on
* A fruit, veg and florist store – even produces it’s own juices with a juice extractor
* A Supermarket – especially large spreading over various pages. With a functional assembly line etc.
If you want to take your doll to the next store, all you need to do is follow the yellow arrows. This function is also important for the connection between the two apps.
Connecting the PlayHome app to the PlayHome Stores app
Our advice: Treat your kids with both apps – that way they can use both Game worlds together. A new yellow arrow in front of the PlayHome will lead to the shopping promenade. That way the dolls can take their shopping home. The app switches almost seamlessly into the other app, a technique which we greatly appreciate, but so far, we only discovered a handful of children’s apps as such. We think that this change-function is a useful alternative compared to in-app purchases. After all, the shop extension could have been offered as an in-app purchase. There are no in-app purchases in both of the apps and knowing the app developer, nothing will change. Until now, all content extensions came with a free update.

My PlayHome Stores | kids app rating
My PlayHome Stores belongs to one of the biggest kids app highlights 2013. A fantastic addition to My PlayHome, which is also brilliant to play on it’s own too. If you don’t yet own any of the two apps, we’ll let you know our personal favorite: We are really fond of the Shopping mall scenario, which the kids seem to prefer a little more than the Dollhouse. Perhaps you’ll start off with the Shopping mall app?
