In the Night Garden | iPad & iPhone app for kids aged 1-4
BBC’s In the Night Garden has finally made it to the AppStore, and we are thrilled to be announcing this great children’s app as one of our top best apps for kids aged 1-4.
In the Night Garden, which is similar to the Teletubbies (same producers), is one of the most popular and loved children’s shows on TV.
If your children haven’t met the beloved In the Night Garden’s characters yet, we’re more than glad to be introducing you to Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka now. These are the main characters, of course there are still more cute and popular other characters, that complete the “In the Night Garden” crew, such as: the Tombliboos, the Pontipines, the Wottingers, the Ninky Nonk and the Pinky Ponk and not to forget the Haahoos.
The iPhone & iPad app splits into two categories:
> In the Night Garden app < – the Dance (songs)
All three leading characters perform their very famous “In the Night Garden dance”.
This part of the kids app, is the least interactive part of the app and is therefore aimed to attract our little toddlers, who prefer to watch and pay attention.
Unfortunately the dances don’t last very long, so don’t expect a lot of actions in this category.
If you’re looking for a bit more interactions, then the 2 games in the other categories will surely satisfy your needs.
> In the Night Garden app < – Hide & Seek
The kids can learn how to count with the help of the Pontipines – great!
Mr. and Mrs. Pontipine are looking for their 8 children. Can you find them?
In this game, the kids can learn to count up to ten.
Upsy Daisy is looking for her cosy bed. Every time you find it, it starts to dissapear again. Upsy Daisy’s bed has propper wheels and drives off every time it’s found – how amusing!
Makka Pakka loves stones. He looks after every stone that exists in the night garden. He takes real care of them and polishes them regularly.
He even has his own supporting vehicle, which provides him with a sponge and soap.
This kind of scooter is called the Og Pog. Everything which is in the Night Garden, has a very interesting and unique name.
The three little Tombliboos: Unn, Ooo and Eee love playing Hide and Seek.
I bet they don’t know that you can see their funny hairstyles from afar – hehe.
Once you found them, you can also dress them with their fashionable shorts, which are hanging on the washing line.
> In the Night Garden app < – the washing game!
The washing game has only recently been added to this fanastic kids game app.
This is great, because we love this game and it’s one of our favourites of the In the night Garden games.
In this game you obviously play with Makka Pakka as the main character. He always has his sponge & soap handy and loves everyone to be nice and clean!
After you have cleaned and washed all of the other characters in this game, you may also use Makka Pakkas awesome blowdryer.
This makes very funny sounds and noises, which the kids will find very entertaining and amusing.
During the whole of this children’s app, children will hear all the common sounds and songs which they’ll know from the TV show.
This alone is enough to make the kids come running out of their rooms, just to see where the sounds are coming from – amusing!
The graphics and illustrations are perfectly suitable for toddlers and little children.
We would however, love for BBC Worldwide LTD to produce many more games for this kids app.
We would also like for this app to have a lot more interactions, as children love to have their fingers all over the iPad just to see if there’s anything moving or making noises – we might be spoiled from other kids apps, but this should be a priority for producing kids apps.
If there will be more games available sometime soon, then we may give this app a higher rating but for now, it is a 4 star kids app.
Top best apps for kids rating: 4 stars
Unfortunately, the app is no longer available on the App Store (status 18.10.2016)
