Guess the dress & Fancy mess | two wonderful kids apps based on the seasons!
Today we’d like to introduce you to two fantastic kids apps at once.
Both seem very similar at first, but they do however, differ in their details and other emphases.
The first kids app is called “Guess the dress” and the other one “Fancy mess”. Both kids games are dress-up games, which means that they are all about dressing up two dolls in a fun and educative way.
Let’s start by comparing the similarities of both kids apps: both games are based on the seasons. “Guess the dress” is mainly about the classical seasons such as, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, whereas “Fancy mess” is based on the actual seasons itself i.e. the holidays such as Christmas.
1. “Guess the dress” | iPad app for kids
After the kids have chosen which character they want to play, either a boy or a girl, they can then choose the season to which they want to start dressing up to.
Shortly after, the characters are waiting to be dressed up, whilst standing sparsely dressed in the middle of their house, where you can also find a wardrobe and a shoe cabinet.
The aim is to dress the dolls up appropriately, according to each season, so that it is possible for them to play outdoors.
Kids can have a look outside the window, which will show them what the weather is like outside. In the winter, there are obviously snowflakes falling down, whereas the Spring will melt the icicles on the window frame etc.
The whole graphical design and presentation of this app, is just superb and is an honest showpiece. The realistic and less abstract illustrations are a real eye-catcher compared to Toca Boca kids apps, which have more abstract characters. We do prefer the beautiful characters in these two apps.
During this whole realistic process, the fun and entertainment of this game certainly doesn’t loose it’s flare. The characters of this dress-up game can even change their facial expressions and are also an important element of this gameplay.
In reference to their facial expressions, kids can learn whether their choice of clothes was correct or not.
A wooly hat in the Summer season may not have been the bestest of ideas, the characters will let the kids know by giving them a questioning and confused look…
As we know kids, of course they enjoy to send the characters outside with the wrong kinds of clothes. It is however well worth seeing the reactions such as, steamed up faces and the jaw chattering of the dolls.
Kids will get rewarded with 8 suprising mini-games, if however, the characters are dressed up appropriately.
But as this review is already bursting of information, we’ll just let you know that the 8 games are also very wonderfully designed, lovely to play and especially varying from the main game, which makes a nice change.
Let’s talk about the other kids app:
2. “Fancy mess” in detail | iPad & iPhone kids app
In direct comparison to the firt app we just talked about, this app has less content, as there are no mini-games or any outdoor sequences.
This game does however, appeal to us, as you can dress up the characters as freely and crazily as you like, without having to be restricted to any rules.
Kids can choose between some fantastic and crazy fancy dress costumes and explore the wardrobe of fun and creativity. They can either match the costumes or mix different ones together.
As an inspiration, kids can use some of the complete costume samples to compare or copy and there are lots of them to choose from. The boy can choose between a pirate, robot or super hero. The girl can choose between a mermaid, princess or Indian. There are up to 12 different costumes available all together, which can be chosen as a complete costume or just parts of it.
Once they’re completely dressed and ready, they can even be placed on a realistic background via camera function.
Fancy Mess seems to have been updated on the latest seasons and holidays. At the moment the whole background and settings are based all around Christmas, which makes fancy mess a brilliant Christmas app for kids!
Both games complement with one another very well. That’s why we recommend both apps to you and also recommend you to purchase both apps, as they are well worth the money. Even though Guess the dress is a bit bigger for it’s mini games etc, we do find fancy mess very amusing and fun to play. The atmosphere of both apps is fantastic and suit each occasion. As a matter of fact, kids simply love both games and also love to switch over to one another.
Both apps get rewarded with 5 stars and a special praise goes out to the very lavish and wonderful graphics and illustrational work.
