Fingerfun Multilingual | an approved kindergarten app for playschools and kids at home
Amongst many of our readers are also some of which are Nursery school teachers, or child care workers, who keep asking us for special apps, which can be used in kindergarten or Nursery schools. Many of them tell us that they’re equipped with Android tablets. We often have to pass, as most kids apps are only for iPad and iPhone devices, even if most Android users don’t like to hear this. At least the educational area won’t just get away with the iPad, as this fun-tastic app “Fingerfun”, which we want to introduce to you today, is also available for Android devices.
What does Fingerfun have to offer?
With this app, kids can practise their motor skill development and their prestidigitation, improve their vocabulary and can even have a nose around all the different languages, which this app brings along with it. Kids will need to touch all the displayed dots (buttons) with all of their fingers at once, under which a beautiful illustration will be revealed.
This app is a multilingual app for kids, where you can choose between the languages: US/UK English, French, German, Spanish and lots more.
Not only the small displayed text has been translated, also the narration and audio response has been provided with the according language, which will name (via audio response) and show the names of the animals and plants.
Fingerfun can therefore be used as a pre-language lesson or used by kids who need to learn a foreign language. All in all, there are 80 illustrations including words in this kids app, whereby the words are separated into the following categories:
* Zoo Planet
* Botanic Garden
* Water World
* Sunny Farm
The use of this app varies a little bit to whether you use the iPad or iPhone. To be able for kids to use all 10 fingers, they’ll need a bigger display, therefore the iPad, even though it is possible for kids to use both hands on the iPhone. The app has been provided with a clever automatic functionality, which will adjust the difficulty level to the skills of each individual child. If the submission of the fingers are not correct, one button will be faded out to make it easier for kids.
The patterns and distances between each button vary and requires quite good finger acrobatics, even for adults at the higher difficulty levels. A rotation function has been integrated for the iPhone app, perhaps to compensate for the limitation of 5 fingers.
Over 350 different button patterns have been integrated to this kids app.
Fingerfun is a fun, useful and beautiful kids app. Also, because this app doesn’t expect any previous iPad or iPhone experiences, which makes this app a brilliant preschool and Nursery school app for kids. If you use this app at home, you may want to use it as multilingual app for kids to also learn new and different languages. We would have liked to have seen more categories besides animals and plants though.
