Dr. Panda’s Daycare
cute interactive game app for toddlers and kindergarten kids
Dr. Panda’s Daycare app for kids kind of jumps out of line a little bit, as this app is clearly different from the other Dr. Panda apps, as there are no set rules, goals or tasks which need to be completed.
These kind of kids apps are also known as digital toys, where kids can freely play and explore with. Kids can choose their characters, rooms and objects just like they’d do with their dollhouse however, with this app it is all digital and kids can interact much more freely.
Dr. Panda’s Daycare is a very nice game, as this app contains all important aspects of a Daycare or kindergarten, that kids at that age, will need to know from this interactive Daycare. Toddlers can playfully prepare themselves for their time at the kindergarten or Daycare place, whereby the parents should perhaps explain and accompany their kids through this game, as this app has no voice output. This is not necessary for this game anyway, as the navigation is very intuitive and the game works without any experimental tasks. What happens if the polar bear baby is jumping on the trampoline or put to bed? Kids will be able to answer those curious questions all by themselves.
A day at Daycare starts off with being taken there and being dropped off, by one of the animal parents. One major point of criticism has to be the important picking up ritual at the end of each adventurous day, which is not shown at all in this game. Perhaps as this game had a set time frame however, this would have been desirable, especially as for a game with no rules and objectives to simply signal the end of the game to the kids.
This could have also been combined with a clock, which would have been slowly progressing.
Enough criticism for now, because after all we really like the Dr. Panda’s Daycare app.
Lots of interactions are offered around five places:
* The playroom including the reception
* The kitchen including a dining table
* A music room including a theatre stage
* The bedroom for taking naps
* the garden including a swimming-pool and a bouncy castle – which is a little unrealistic however, we are in an kids app after all, where kids are supposed to have fun with too.
The App developers say there are over 1000 interactions in this app, in their iTunes description. Well we haven’t counted, but there must have been over 40 objects alone in the playroom, which the animal kids can play with or even wear. Basically everything you see is interactive in this kids app. You can even open and close the curtains of the rooms. If kids find CD’s on the shelf, it is also possible to play this CD on the stereo. They can even shoot hoops with balls, produce really cool bubbles with a Bubble shooter etc.
