Crayola ColorStudio HD Barbie Edition | iPad drawing app for girls
Brand new Crayola coloring apps for kids has been published: Crayola ColorStudio HD Barbie for the iPad. This app should mostly attract girls. Don’t woory though, because Crayola has also produced a coloring app for boys too: A Hot Wheels coloring app, which we will also introduce to you soon.
Let’s tell you more about the new Crayola Barbie app.
Breadth and content of the Crayola Barbie app
There are five different Barbie coloring books:
* Barbie Adventures
* Barbie Careers
* Barbie Fashion
* Barbie Friends
* Barbie Animals
In addition, you get a free drawing mode, where you can use all the drawing equipments, which is a lot! All together we count 6 different Barbie coloring books of each category, which makes 36 really successful Barbie Coloring pictures all together.
The Crayola Drawing equipments or Color Fan of the Barbie app
Crayola can’t really afford to slack with any of the drawing equipments, as they are one of the most popular producers for child-friendly pens and pencils after all, which is also why we’re not surprised to see all sorts of digital pens and pencils, thereunder…
* paint brushes
* coloring pencils
* felt tip pens
* wax crayons
A little more complicated is the change between colors and pens – at least if you’re choosing a new particular color. Each drawing equipment has a different color palette, so that for example “lime green” may only be available as a wax crayon but not as a coloring pencil. It would have been much better to have separated the colors from the drawing equipments. The colors and tones have also not been sorted very accurately. (dark, light, dark, light)
Special features of the crayola Barbie app
The Crayola coloring book app belongs to few drawing apps, which offer interactive coloring pictures, which means by tapping on them, but also whilst coloring, sounds and animations can be discovered. This is a very interesting and successful alternation to other plain coloring pictures. In this Barbie app, the eyes blink of Barbie and the animals, bubbles appear and the hair flies etc.
Tip: it can be useful to switch off the animations whilst coloring. Kids can do so themselves, quite easily with the Play-button.
Luckily it’s optional to use the special Crayola iMarker pen for the iPad
If you’re not already familiar with the Crayola iMarker pen, it has been produced especially for the iPad for the use of coloring apps. Luckily this is only optional, because we have tested this ColorStudio HD iMarker pen and we can’t really recommend it.
If you want to make you’re kids happy, why not buy them another standard capacity pen i.e. the amazon model, which works much better and more precisely.
