With the app “Animal Muddle”, little researchers can create the most beautiful guaranteed genetically unmodified animal crossings. The above-average size of this app is surprising, especially if one takes into account that the app is being offered for free. All in all there are 16 colorful animals which can be jumbled.

The animals consist of 5 different body parts each (head, trunk, tail, front and back) which leads to various possible combinations of 1.048.576 (if I used the combinatorics formula correctly 😀 (with attention to the permutation sequence, with repetition and replacement). Of course you can also save each creation as a picture, or send them as an e-Mail to family members. You can also choose between saving the animal with or without a background – awesome. In combination with paint programs, that distinguish different image planes, children can draw their own backgrounds (not implemented).

It’s definitely challenging enough for young children to reconstruct the 16 different animals. There’s also a “muddle” button to generate random animals and very strange combinations.

If you invest in a bit of imagination, you can certainly find large and small tasks that can be achieved with this otherwise free app. The animals make animal noises and are all of course animated. Nice!
