Build Cars with Edward & Arthur | fun and creative kids app
Don’t forget your tools, when Edward and Arthur invite you to their car workshop. Design and create the ultimate Fun-car with the two of them. All sorts of vehicle parts can be combined and added. How your spectacular prototype drives and how it looks in action, you can test and find out on three different provided test routes.
Build Cars with Edward and Arthur is a fun and experimental app for children, where they can freely pick and mix their own car together.
At first only the basic car equipment are available for kids. Provisionally, we assemble together an exciting vehicle, so that we can test it straight after on one of the test routes. As soon as you have left the workshop, the view changes into bird’s eye perspective snd you navigate your vehicle from above via finger-touch.
You will find stars whilst en route which can be collected to unlock new parts and routes. Always keep an eye on your petrol whilst driving! If you’re running out of gas, you can stop at a petrol station along the way and on all test routes to fill it up. Depending on how your car is constructed and equipped, it consumes a different amount of gasoline. This is where we begin with one of the highlights of the app. The many various vehicle parts do not only allow countless combinations of vehicles, they also influence the driving behaviour. Heavy parts slow down the speed of the car. If you install two engines at once, you’ll quickly run dry. Long-distance test pilots therefore prefer a lightweight vehicle and equip it with an auxiliary tank.
On the other two test routes you can get ice-cream, mud and an unstable wooden bridge, which should only be driven on by very lightweight vehicles. It is also worth to check out the chain drive in the mud or snow. Those experiments in combination with collecting stars surely make this app entertaining and fun.
The rendered graphics are absolutely awesome and rarely seen in kids apps. We also wish for more. We love the game concept, the graphics, the navigation and the characters etc…
We simply need more of this. Yes, this is the big disadvantage when you’re really fond of an kids app: We can’t get enough of it.
* 3 test routes are OK however, we want more.
* 39 vehicle parts are OK however, we want more.
One note about the vehicle parts. Once you’ve collected enough vehicle parts, you can start to assemble a proper initial car, which means, no more wild pick ‘n mix cars but instead, an original police car etc. This kind of works like a car puzzle and also gets rewarded with extra stars once you’ve finished a combination. Unfortunately, there are also a few very distinctive vehicle parts available, such as an excavator shovel, so only single items. We would have much preferred to have been able to build a complete digger.

The music is fine, but we’re kind of missing the sound, the horn and engine noises.
Despite our small wish-list, we can highly recommend this app. Especially boys will have lots of fun experimenting with the different vehicle parts. If there are going to be further updates, we could actually give this App our “Editor’s Choice Award”. Until then however, Arthur & Edward can drive away with a 5 star rating, of which they can be truly proud of.
