The best Max and Ruby apps for kids
fun and diversified apps for every taste
1. Toy Maker | Max & Ruby app for kids
We’ll start of with what we think is one of the best Max and Ruby apps for kids: With Toy Maker, kids can create and design their own dolls and robots out of a big range of materials and pieces and when they’re done, they can place their creations on an interactive landscape “Hot Spots”.
Those are presented as snowballs and also show some really nice animations.
Altogether this Max & Ruby app is a strong children animation app, for those who are involved in app development, will know how expensive animations can be, one reason why those are often found reduced in kids apps. Max and Ruby really get to shine, especially for their “Hot Spots” which are nice to see for a change. Between those snowballs are also some presents hidden, which contain more parts for the doll and robot, so that at some point, you have a total of 180 pieces and parts to choose from (100 for the robot and 80 for the doll) – awesome!

2. Bunny Hop | Max & Ruby app for kids
Bunny Hop reminds us of the good old funfairs. After the kids have decided with which animal or character they want to play on the funfair with, they’ll have to throw the balls into the holes of the funfair’s machine quite precisely. I don’t really know what these machines are called, so please excuse. Anyway, your character will only move on, if you have scored and hit one of the holes.
Different ranges are being distinguished whilst throwing, whoever is good at targeting, is able to make a bigger step forward.
If you like these sort of games, we’ll also recommend you the rather bigger in range kids app “Carnival 2” (no longer available), which is however, only available for the iPhone.

3. Max’s Mole Mash | Max & Ruby app for kids
This third game of Max & Ruby also reminds us of a funfair game, as we have a typical “mash the moles” game here, where i also don’t remember what this game is called exactly.
Whenever a mole with a helmet sticks it’s head out of the hole, you batter it with the hammer and therefore improve your highscore.
Every now and again, another object appears out of the holes, some bring bonus points, others will lead to points deductions.
What annoys us a little, is an inconsistent rule: Aparently you’re not supposed to mash on toys, but a red car however, is supposed to get mashed, as a bonus game will start that way. The difference between a red fire engine (don’t hit) and a red car (bonus-game) doesn’t really make any sense at all.

4. Rabbit Race | Max & Ruby kids app
At last, the Rabbit race app drives it’s way through the finishing line, even though, this kids app sounds and looks pretty good: with a little red racing car, kids can race the rabbit Max past many other racing members, as only the pole positions win the “tickets”.
With those, you can get many more vehicles. Unfortunately those are far from being cheap and therefore, are also waving in-app purchases, with which you can also buy yourself tickets with.
Rabbit race is therefore the only Max & Ruby app, which we are representing, which contains optional in-app purchases. We also don’t like the navigation and the graphics of the vehicles. These only look good on screenshots, but they are actually only flat drawings, that look like cut out paper snips.
If the racing routes do remind you of another racing kids app, you’re probably right. The kids app “Go! Go! Franklin”, which was developed by the same app developer, is a lot better than this app and also has no in-app purchases. Therefore, we can only recommend Rabbit Race as a free kids app, as it is at the moment. If you want to buy one, you should rather get yourself the Franklin the turtle app.

Final Note:
In two of the introduced Max & Ruby kids apps, we found self-promotional advertisements, whilst those apps were offered for free, on the App Store. This strategy is often used by app developers, whilst they’re having a Free Promo, to achieve a higher advertising effectiveness for the whole kids app. Of course this is an annoying habbit, which will hopefully not spread and stay. The banners were found in kids app no. 2 and no. 3. As you can see this time, the order which we have presented the apps in, also represents the ranking of the apps. We especially recommend you to get the first two apps. At the moment, all Max and Ruby app are free, so that there is no question of which one to choose first.
